A thought on parody

Parody is effective when it is also a good narrative.

Does this mean for a parody game to be effective it must also be a fun game? Yes, I think so.

Someone is about to mentional HOL. HOL is a parody of a game text, rather than a game, I think.

Having tried to play HOL in my teenage years, I agree.

I need to try Hackmaster at some point, since I keep hearing it's actually a fun game in and of itself.

Couldn't one just say that for a * game to be effective it must also be a fun game? * could be anything.

Yes, but this point is often lost in parody. Even a parody of a bad, unfun game needs to be fun to play itself in order to be effective.

I have had enough fun making characters in "Prestidigitatorr (http://www.mortijingle.com/presto/index.html)" that I have adapted them into other works of fiction, but since the game mechanics are based on a existing system, that part might not count too much as parody.

+1 and kudos to you

I've been of this same opinion for a long, long time. As it so often happens, you put it in a shorter, better (as in: more effective) words than I was ever able to. Thank you.
