Systems you wrote or I've never heard of don't count. :)

Seriously, though. It's Old Skool. You're just not Old Skool enough, you whippersnapper.

Dogs in the Vineyard -- Ken Hite and Jon Tweet's best RPG for 2004. Not on the list.

MLWM -- winner of the Diana Jones Award in 2003. Jon Tweet's Best of GenCon 2003. Ken Hite's best Sui Generis RPG. Not on the list.

As examples.

Those still aren't Old Skool RPGs by any stretch of the imagination.

Exactly.

Old Skool is the 80s.
Hard Core is pre-1984.

Example: 1st Edition Traveller. Ever had a character die in character generation before? That's Old Skool Traveller.

Owning the four Basic sets of D&D - Basic, Expert, Companion & Master. That's Old Skool.

All you johnnie-come-latelys are just messing up the roleplaying for us folks who don't hold with this 'optional variable damage' rule. 1d6 damage for all weapons was good enough for Gynax, it's good enough for us!

Five basic sets. You forgot one.

See, I get the hard core. T&T, Boot Hill, Star Frontiers, Indiana Jones, Top Secret. It's actually the vast number of shitty early-90s RPGs that fuck me over.

The Immortals set is apocrypha!
