Okay, I just spent way too much of the past few days reading that through, from end to end. Most excellent indeed, although I felt the Plot took a bit too much backseat to the Message in the last (post-landing) fraction. The middle third, though, was a truly fantastic story, and the ending was indeed a perfect one. Must get more people to timesuck themselves into reading it :)
