I am fascinated by Romantic Chess. I think it's because it indicates that that there is something in a game that does not love a win condition.

There are plenty of games without a clear win condition, mostly childrens' games played in rounds (where there is usually a 'winner' each round but no one cares)

I think it's more important to have an end condition.

Wow, that's pretty funny. Reminds me of age-of-chivalry/honor code combat (at least in gleanings from popular culture).
