See if you can find some dried goji berries in Chinatown. Make a tea and drink it. It'll help the insomnia. (You'll have to up your general water intake too, as it can dehydrate you a bit).

What's the mechanism of action for goji berries? (either in trad. Chinese or allopathic sense.)

In TCM, goji berries help a depleted liver. Given what you've told me about medical side effects and your liver, and insomnia, it seems like it'll probably be a good choice.

Other things which help the liver: Eggs over easy, bitter licorice, and B-vitamins.

The gojis have the quickest effect on sleep, for me, but the other stuff is good for longer term treatment.

From an allopathic perspective, don't take the B-vitamins right before bed, they've been shown to cause vivid dreams and trouble staying asleep. Take them in the morning instead.
