Heck, when my brother was a kid, there were plenty of his schoolmates who didn't have electricity in their homes yet, but the old kampungs were torn down by the time I went to school, and people moved to housing projects. Also, I know the family's heating bill was zero, because we lived 1 degree off the equator.
