London is expensive on the order of New York City and Tokyo. It is an unspeakably amazing place, but it will do everything in its considerable power to destroy your finances. That said, if you do live there, I would very much like to drop by and visit you.

My vote goes to Boston, but for purely selfish reasons. Although... it's my understanding that proximity to New York can be useful for publishing.
