Happy birthday to me
I live in a tree
I smell like a monkey
and I sing songs off key

Damn. 25 already. It's been 3 years since I left Providence. Where does the time go?

Feliz cupleanos a ti
En un arbol vives, si?
Aljedrez al mono
Y cantas como asi.

...The Spanish went off the rails somewhere near the second line. But happy 25th!

Were you one of the people at KueiCon who went to Brown? Did you happen to know a Matthew Jaffe while (if) there?

I was one of the people at KueiCon who went to Brown, yeah. The others were friends of mine from back in the day.

I didn't know someone named Matthew Jaffe offhand, but maybe you can give me some hints as to major, appearance, hobbies?

I think he was Comparative Literature. I know he's gone off and beome a poet, hanging out in Oaxaca for a year on a grant of some sort.

a bit short, curly brown hair, rather Jewish looking...

He and his parents are old friends of my family, so I just thouhgt I'd see if the world would continue to shrink in weird ways like it has a habit of doing.

Oh, and happy birthday!

Huh. Nope. I took a few comp lit classes, and his name rings a distant, distant bell, so I was probably in a lecture with him or something. But we weren't close friends.

Also, why do you have the characters for "mountain-step-ride-earth" in your LJ name?

posted by [identity profile] doublefeh.livejournal.com at 07:19pm on 11/06/2006
'ride-earth' is the word for "knight" in Japanese, usually used to refer to occidental Knights In Shining Armor type knights.

When I lived in Japan, I had a tendency to wander around in the mountains. Hence "mountain walking knight" or something vaguely resembling it.

Happy birthday, you young whippersnapper!

*shakes walking stick*

Now get off my damn lawn!

:)

You, sire, have a very large lawn, if it occupies both California and Shanghai.

...but it does! My brother-in-law's in Shanghai.

I'd chase you off it, but my walker's got stuck in this planter. So I'll just stand here glaring and wee in my Depends.

You should totally put me in touch w/ your bro-in-law. Provided that your wife's coolness runs in the family.

Yom huledet sameach! (Dang... that looks strange. I think my Hebrew to English transliteration needs work.)

Hope you have a restful, fun birthday!

You forgot the 1d6 to grow on.

Happy birthday! Incidentally, you'll probably be amused to hear that my gaming group here in Philly is largely made up of people who are heavily into the independent gaming/Forge scene... they certainly know your name, though I am not sure if they've actually met you in person.

I've met Jenn and Russ (Russ? God, I hope I'm getting his name right) in person a couple of times. They're Good People.

Thanks. I think it may fall upon deaf ears, but I'm really optimistic about gaming as a whole these days, and I hope I managed to convey some of my boundless enthusiasm.

We share a birthday? Or is LJ doing weird things with time?

Happy birthday! whether it is the 12th or some other date.

posted by [identity profile] benlehman.livejournal.com at 03:48am on 13/06/2006
We do this every year :-D

Yup! We share a birthday. I'm very glad to have someone cool to share it with, as well.

Although, technically, I wasn't born until three hours from now (11 PM pdt) so, given time zones, my birthday should really be the 13th this year.

Happy Birthday! Don't let monkeys take all your things! (Or, as my sister's birthday advice went a few years ago, 'don't take any wooden Kale!')

Huh. I don't know anyone who does anonymouse commenting on my journal, and has a sister. Who's this.
