This morning, in the elevator, there was myself, an african, a pakistani, and a chinese. I really wanted to break into a chorus of "we are the world" but I couldn't remember the words.

I'm not speaking about countries, I'm speaking about ethnicities. I also didn't specify whether the chinese guy was a mainlander, a taiwanese, a hong konger, or a singaporean, despite the fact that these are seperate political entities.

There exists a very real, very concrete ethnicity of "african" in China and Hong Kong. Rather like "african-american" or "asian-american," it isn't tied to a specific country.

As a fallback, you could have always broken out into a chorus of "We are the Champions".
