Kunming is not just the city of eternal spring, it is the city of plentiful internet cafes. Sweet!

The air here is completely unlike Guangzhou, though the cities are both inland and about the same latitude. Here the air is pleasantly warm, dry like hands, with a soft breeze, and slightly cool in the nights. Clouds rip great tracks through the sky, and are lit up outrageous colors during sunsets -- the entire sky is purple and pink.

I am living in a youth hostel for 25Y / day (that'sa little over $3 for those playing along at home.) It is just on a gorgeous lake / park (little islands w/ gazebos connected by bridges, where there are string quartets), and very close to the university district and the city's only night club, where I was just dancing to a techno remix of "old mcdonald had a farm" with a bunch of very non-ironic chinese kids.

I have an invitation to visit a fellow at his home outside the city tomorrow, and literally bumped into a girl on the bus who helped me around town all afternoon and wants me to help her with English.

Things are much better.

Keep us updated. Very much glad to hear you're no longer in straights so dire.

Thirdeded. Your last post was fairly depressing... glad you're feeling better now.
