Dokidoki! The game of romantic combat
For the last 8 months or so, my back-burner project has been a card game inspired by the manga Imadoki, and by shoujo manga in general. I'm fascinated by the totally mercenary and calculating approach that high-school shoujo romances have to love, courtship, and emotions in general.
Today the game just sprang, fully formed, from my head. You can see my draft document On Jason Petrasko's new Spin forum. At this point, you can make your own version with some 3x5 cards (or a deck of cards: there's 52 cards in the Dokidoki deck) and playtest it, if you want, although be warned that the game might be way too hard or way too easy to win. I'd be happy to recieve feedback and questions from people who are card gamers, game designers, fans of shoujo manga, or any of the above.
It's a card game, not a role-playing game. Keep that in mind.
As a note, the game is attempting to embody the moral perspective of shoujo manga, not my own moral perspective. Keep that in mind before you condemn me for equating, say, sex and suicide attempts.
