I went shopping for food last night, and made a lovely bean salad (with the magic beans from halloween, no less), the remains of which are pickling in the refrigerator as I type this. This is something uniquely good about salads which contain no wilty vegetables (lettuce and spinach, mostly.) They can be kept and, indeed, get better as they age. I checked this morning and it was already swimming in a broth of vinegar, bean juice and oil. The broccoli has even taken on a pleasant pickled sheen. Mmm...

There is also something uniquely good about eating exactly enough food. In this case, my lunch was just perfect both in taste and quantity. It was two hot dogs and a few spoonfuls of bean salad. The dogs were from Top Dog, a lovely Berkeley resturaunt chain (for Providence people, it is the exact negative twin of Spike's): A Bratwurst with hot mustard and sauerkraut and a Linguica with ketchup. Also included was a large lemonade. All were eaten beneath the shade of a tree, with I. for conversational company. Now my stomach is quite pleasantly full without straining itself, and all I want to do is nap.

Polaris is in two hours... life is good.

I just finished the first actual-play session of IRC Polaris.

There are definite problems. One of the players didn't get enough screen time, and the temptations system is far from perfect. Conflict in general was a little sticky.

But I played the game, and we all have fun, and I wrote it. I am filled with a great joy.

All of you who are disposed to RPGs -- play this game. You'll have fun. (especially after I fix it up.)
