I have had, as of late, cause to converse with the administration of Brown University, an experience which, to some extent, defies description, and certainly defies both mortal logic and divine grace. Those who have suffered through it will understand, those who have not will not.

These were my thoughts on re-reading an e-mail to try to craft a sane response.

I realize that as I prepare to look at the letter there is a sense of panic distilling in my lungs, like some predator closing in on me. It is this feeling -- trained and not inborn -- that is the vile legacy of the Brown administration. They do not need to be cruel in order to cause fear and disgust. Their cruelty has transformed even the most normal of acts and statements into blasphemous inhumanities. This fear is not the fear of deeds. It is the fear of their mere presence, writ across my heart with a knife formed from the blood of the fallen, writ slow and long across five years, by a hand so large and invisible that it might be called Bureaucracy.

And they say that there are no dragons in this world.
