Present Day, Present Time
I'm struck with a strong desire to watch Serial Experiments Lain again.
Anyone local have a copy that I could:
1) Borrow?
or
2) Watch with you?

Huh. Lain was one of those series I liked, but couldn't tell you -why- I liked it, other than the opening song. :P
BTW, Have you ever seen Kino's Journey?

Kino: Oh yes.
I like Lain because it tries to be an allegory for the state of modern society and it makes it like %90 of the way there, but fails by over-reaching. Also, it's incredibly stylish. And the previews are great.

Hmm,
redcrosse
claimed it was an allegory for the Incarnation. Aside from the random alien, it actually works pretty well as that.

I agree with this. I have mp3s of at least two versions of that song.
Also, BEARSUIT.
And if you haven't seen it, the same guy did another 13-ep series called Haibane Renmei.

And she was 12 when she sang it, friggin' 12!
Yes, one of my favourite songs.
And heh, that's the thing about allegories, most people take the allegory they want.
